Who is Chris Dobey?

Chris Dobey is a professional darts player from Bedlington in Northumberland, born in 1990. He throws right-handed and came through local leagues in the North East. His nickname "Hollywood" started as a joke about the baseball cap he wore to play.

He won his first two Players Championship titles in 2021.

How did Chris Dobey win the Masters?

Dobey won the 2023 Masters as the 21st seed. He beat Joe Cullen, Luke Humphries, Dirk van Duijvenbode and the newly crowned world champion Michael Smith, then Rob Cross 11-7 in the final. It was his first televised major title. He played in the Premier League in 2023 and again in 2025.

At the 2025 World Championship he came from two sets down to beat Gerwyn Price 5-3 in the quarter-finals, reaching his first World Championship semi-final, where he lost to Michael van Gerwen.

How has Chris Dobey played in 2026?

He won Players Championship 3, beating Stephen Bunting 8-1 in the final, and Players Championship 9, beating Justin Hood 8-4. That took him to 10 Players Championship titles. He was 17th on the PDC Order of Merit as of October 2026, having reached a career high of sixth in June 2025.

What darts does Chris Dobey use?

Dobey signed with Target in September 2023 and plays the 23g Target Chris Dobey Gen 1. Target designed it with him and says he won the 2023 Masters with Generation One darts. It is a 90% tungsten barrel, 50.1mm long, with radial grooves along its length and a black and white finish at the rear, a nod to his home city of Newcastle. Target supplies it with 26mm Swiss points, short Pro Grip shafts and Chris Dobey G1 No.2 flights. His range also includes the Hollywood Action in 90% tungsten and the 95K, a straight 95% tungsten barrel, both in 22g, 23g and 24g.
