Short answer: Winmau's new player ranges for Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen each have four steel tip sets: the W-Max (top model), the TS-Pro (closest to the player's own dart), the TS and the brass Core. The tungsten sets are 90% and use Winmau's Switch Point system. The main difference between the two ranges is the barrel: Van Gerwen's are 53 mm long with 28 mm points, Van Veen's 48.3 mm with 40 or 45 mm points.

What's in the Michael van Gerwen range?

Michael van Gerwen's barrels share one profile: 53 mm, parallel, with a rounded front and the weight in the centre. The four sets differ in finish, grip and what comes in the box.
- W-Max: the top set. Onyx black, colour-matched to his playing shirt, with Astra milling cut through to the silver beneath and a 24 carat gold-plated accent. Two sets of 28 mm points (black and silver) and MvG-printed Fusion No.2 flights and shafts.
- TS-Pro: his playing dart with extra detail. Winmau re-machines the Astra grip to add clear reference points where he holds the barrel, over a grey shot-blast finish. Supplied with 28 mm silver points, the length he uses.
- TS: a recreation of the MvG Exact, his original Winmau playing dart, matching its length, diameter and grip positions. Radial ring grooves give the grip, and three ring cuts at the rear mark his three World Championship titles.
- Core: the entry set, a 21 g brass barrel with a charcoal etch and MvG green detailing, fixed points and MvG Design shafts and flights.

What's in the Gian van Veen range?

Gian van Veen, the 2025 European Champion and runner-up at the 2026 World Championship, throws a shorter barrel than Van Gerwen with a much longer point. His tungsten sets are 48.3 mm, parallel, rounded at the front and centre weighted.
- W-Max: the top set and the most grip in either range, rated 5 out of 5. Full-length vertical milling and a rear Paradym cut in 24 carat gold, over Winmau's Diamond Fusion coating, which bonds fine diamond and crystal particles to the barrel for extra friction. Two sets of 45 mm points (silver and gold) and two flight setups.
- TS-Pro: follows the layout of his own playing dart: staggered milled rings with a re-machined micro grip between them, which Winmau calls Dual Texture. Onyx black with silver and gold detail, 45 mm silver points.
- TS: a single fine micro grip across the main grip zones, onyx black with a gold rear. The heaviest set in his range, at 23 to 25 g, with 40 mm points.
- Core: a 21 g brass barrel, the weight he plays, with a charcoal etch, a gold W band and staggered milled grip zones.
All four are in the Gian van Veen collection.

MvG or Van Veen: how do the barrels differ?
The two ranges look alike on the shelf, but they set the dart up in opposite ways.
| Michael van Gerwen | Gian van Veen | |
|---|---|---|
| Barrel length (tungsten sets) | 53 mm | 48.3 mm |
| Barrel width | 6.2 to 6.55 mm | 6.5 to 6.9 mm |
| Points supplied | 28 mm | 40 or 45 mm |
| Weights | 21 to 25 g | 21 to 25 g |
Van Gerwen's longer, slimmer barrel gives more room to move the fingers along it, and the short point keeps the whole dart compact. Van Veen's shorter, slightly wider barrel packs the same weight into less length, and the long point adds reach in front of the grip. If you already throw long points, the Van Veen setup will feel closer to what you know. Because both ranges use Switch Points, the point length can be changed with the supplied tool; our dart points guide explains how Switch Points work.

Frequently asked questions
Are the new Winmau MvG and Gian van Veen darts steel tip?
Yes. All eight sets on Darts Online are steel tip darts.
What are Winmau Switch Points?
Switch Points are Winmau's interchangeable point system. The supplied tool swaps the points, so you can change the length or colour without repointing the barrel.
What tungsten are the new darts?
The W-Max, TS-Pro and TS in both ranges are 90% tungsten. The Core sets are brass.
Which dart does Michael van Gerwen use?
Winmau describe the TS-Pro as his playing dart with extra detail, set up with 28 mm points, the length he uses.
What weight does Gian van Veen throw?
21 g, according to Winmau. His Core set comes in 21 g, and his TS-Pro in 21, 22 and 23 g.
What is Diamond Fusion?
Diamond Fusion is Winmau's coating on the Gian van Veen W-Max. It bonds fine diamond and crystal particles to the barrel for extra friction, which is why that set is rated 5 out of 5 for grip.
